Andrea Demel

Andrea Demel began riding horses at age 7. After discovering her love for the sport she began volunteering her free time at the barn, trying to soak up every bit of knowledge she could.  She discovered her passion for teaching riding lessons at the age of 13, when volunteering at a therapeutic riding center.

While working as a groom and assistant trainer at various barns in Texas and Florida, she became
competent with many different levels of horses and riders.

In 2011, she moved to California to continue her equine career.

At New Heights Training Stables, Andrea brings her passion for horses and teaching into every lesson.
She believes in positive reinforcement and that riding should first and foremost be FUN!

With a master's degree in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience, Andrea uses her understanding of psychology and behavioral science to tailor her teaching to each student's learning and communication style.

Andrea's philosophy is that you teach by
building your students up, not tearing them down, and she strives for every student to
leave their lessons feeling confident and enthusiastic about reaching their goals.

Andrea's students learn hard work, perseverance, and to reach their riding goals while
treating their equine partner with compassion.

Andrea currently competes in eventing at the Preliminary level with her horse Monty
and hopes to continue to advance her riding under the guidance of head trainer David Acord.
